David Bowra, President
David Bowra is the President of The Bowra Group Inc., a Vancouver-based boutique financial advisory service. He has over 30 years experience with major international accounting firms, most recently as senior partner Financial Advisory Services of one of the big 4 accounting firms.

David has practiced exclusively in the area of business restructuring since 1977. He has been involved in a variety of business reorganizations, including Port Alice Specialty Cellulose Inc., Skeena Cellulose Inc. and Coe Newnes McGehee Inc. He also acted as interim CEO of Skeena Cellulose Inc. and Coe Newnes McGehee Inc.

Over the last 2 years David has been involved in 20 different real estate projects, ranging from a 190 unit condo project in Yaletown, Vancouver to a 30 unit recreational condo development in Sicamous, BC. His firm is currently involved in the completion of construction and sale of 5 condo projects in the lower mainland and BC interior, and is a registered builder under the National Home Warranty Program.

He is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Consultant, a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, and a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada. He has an economics degree from University College Cardiff, South Wales.

Martin Hyatt, Senior Vice President
Martin Hyatt is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals ("CAIRP"). He worked for one of the big 4 accounting firms for 32 years.

Martin has practiced exclusively in the area of insolvency since 1982. He has been involved in large sized business reorganizations including Skeena Cellulose, Warehouse One Mfg., Houweling Nurseries Ltd., Jackpine Forest Products Ltd., as well as numerous mid sized businesses.

Martin has had extensive experience in carrying out financial assessments and insolvency related engagements on behalf of financial institutions and other creditors, debtors, and prospective investors in a variety of industries including manufacturing, forestry, real estate, retail, and service sectors.

Alan Kemp-Gee, Senior Vice President
Alan Kemp-Gee is a Chartered Accountant, and a Senior Vice President of The Bowra Group Inc. He has over 30 years of experience in insolvency and related fields, directing insolvency files at both the national and local level.

Formerly a partner of a national accounting firm, Alan was in charge of the insolvency and business investigating arm, and served on the executive committee. He subsequently obtained experience as Senior Vice President of a Toronto based merchant banking operation and as COO of a Vancouver based merchant banker.

In addition to providing general management and strategic advice to business and turnaround situations, he has extensive experience as an expert witness in litigation matters.

Callum Beveridge, Senior Vice President
Callum Beveridge has over 25 years investment banking, corporate finance and big firm accounting experience.

Callum focuses on corporate finance and turnaround/interim management roles at the Bowra Group. Recently he has been working on the successful restructuring of a heavy equipment dealer in BC.

Prior to joining the Bowra Group, he was a Director at NM Rothschild & Sons (Singapore) for 10 years where he advised on cross border M&A transactions across Asia. Before joining Rothschild, Callum worked on corporate finance and corporate recovery assignments at a major accounting firm for 12 years in the UK, Canada and Hong Kong.

He has worked across a wide range of industries but specialized in the telecoms and consumer sectors and has acted for private/public companies and governments.

Callum is a Chartered Accountant and has an Economics degree from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Doug Chivers, Vice President
Doug Chivers is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals ("CAIRP"). Doug has practiced exclusively in the area of restructuring and insolvency since 2001.

He has been involved in a number of large sized business reorganizations including Warehouse One Mfg., a Canada wide chain of over 100 retail clothing stores and a turnaround of Houweling Nurseries Oxnard Ltd., a California based greenhouse operation with approximately 80 acres under glass. Doug has also been involved in the reorganization of several mid sized businesses.

Doug has had extensive experience in complex financial modeling and detailed performance analysis of companies.

Mario Mainella, Vice President
Mario Mainella is a Chartered Accountant (1999), a member of CAIRP, and a Vice President of The Bowra Group. Mario has practiced exclusively in the area of restructuring and insolvency since 2001.

He has been involved in a number of large sized business reorganizations including Houweling Nurseries Ltd., New Skeena Forest Products Inc. and PASCI. He has been involved in mid sized assignments, including acting as CFO/General Manager of a 48 acre greenhouse operation for 5 months.

Mario has experience in carrying out financial and performance assessments and insolvency related engagements.

Derek Lai, Senior Associate
Derek Lai is a Certified Management Accountant (2007) and a graduate from the financial management program offered at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Derek has over 5 years of experience within the financial sector.

Derek is currently enrolled in the NIQP program with the intention of obtaining his Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Designation and Trustee in Bankruptcy.

Thomas Powell, Senior Associate
Thomas Powell is a Chartered Accountant, and has a BCom majoring in Finance from the McGill University Faculty of Management. Thomas' public practice experience includes several years in the Audit and Assurance Group of a Big 4 accounting firm. His experience includes work in the banking, real estate, mining, forestry, and tourism sectors.

Mathew's public practice experience includes three years with a local mid-sized accounting firm focused on providing tax and assurance services to owner managed businesses including clients in the transportation, retail, professional services, not-for-profit, consulting and tourism industries.
