On March 25, 2021, The Bowra Group Inc. was appointed Receiver of the assets, undertakings and property of Wild Goose Vintners Inc. (the “Company” or “Wild Goose”) pursuant to an Order of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Wild Goose is one of B.C.’s oldest farmgate wineries that was established in 1984. It is an award-winning winery with 4 vineyards throughout the south Okanagan. Wild Goose currently produces about 20,000 cases of wine per year.
The Receiver has accepted an offer for the assets of Wild Goose and has made an application to Court seeking the approval of the offer. The Court hearing is scheduled for June 25, 2021.
The Company filed an appeal on July 19, 2021. The appeal was dismissed by the Court on July 28, 2021.
The sale of the assets of Wild Goose to Burrowing Owl Vineyards Ltd. completed on July 29, 2021.
On August 13, 2021, the Court approved the distribution to secured creditors and the fees and disbursements of the Receiver.
On February 3, 2022, the Court granted an Order authorizing the Receiver to pay $335,961 to be held in trust by the Court.
On June 3, 2022, the Court granted an Order authorizing the payment of $217,251.58 to the Receiver General for Canada from funds held by the Court. The payment relates to debt owed for corporate income taxes.
